| This are going to improve!
Conditions have been tough but I fish and continue to catch fish, somedays are great some days have been brutal. I usually here isn't that bad it was -18 at home! With this in in mind I go out and fish as hard as I can and hopefully fulfill everyones dream.
Tarpon are here but these windy cold days can make it difficult it looks like our weather will be improving as of the 9th of March. Warmer water temps will improve the Tarpon activity in Whitewater bay.
The Snook fishing will also take off as soon as we can keep the water temp around 75 degrees for a week or so, this will bring them out of the creeks and rivers and back onto the flats and in the pot holes.

I am fishing with Drew and Nancy Garret tonight for Tarpon in Government Cut. The winds were light out of NW until I launched the boat then it picked up to 20 mph pretty quick. We did a couple drifts and Nancy caught a nice grouper. On the next drift one of the rods doubled over and pulled drag and then let go, it was our only shot at a Tarpon because we called right after that it was very cold and windy and Nancy just wasn't up for it.

Today I am fishing with Ron and Irene an avid angler she has her own boat and fishes with her friend regularly of New Jersey in Whitewater Bay, our goal is Tarpon but they also want to catch anything possible. The cloud cover was thick and it was windy, finding a Tarpon was not looking good. On our first two spots they already had Snook, Redfish and Trout in the boat and then we got into Jack Crevalles for over an hour, they caught 30 or so in the 1-3 lb range. I took advantage and threw 5 of them into the live well for late use. We worked around from island to island in the back country getting into more Trout and a good Mangrove Snapper bite. I finally took them to a Goliath Grouper spot. I told Irene I am going to pitch this bait out then you have to hold on, she never expected what came next! The Jack hit the what and it was off to the races, Irene was holding on and cranking but she was really in shock as to how hard the fish pulled. The Grouper finally made its way into the trees and cut her off. I re baited and we did it again and again finally Irene told Ron it was his turn. Ron stepped up and he was also amazed at their power, Ron owns a Gym and is pretty a strong dude. We went thru a bunch of baits and finally ran out but they were hooked! We headed in it was late and they had a great workout.

This morning I am fishing North Miami Beach with Steve his girlfriend "Lucky" and another friend named "Bunny". It was windy and cloudy but we gave it a go there was absolutely nothing going on we fished hard and finally hooked into a 4 foot Bonnet Head Shark, Steve caught it Lucky and Bunny are big into photography and they we snapping plenty of pictures. On the way in we got into some Jacks that would hit the lure but turn off and not get hooked. It was only a half day so we headed in.
afternoon trip
I met Jeremy and Erica down on South Beach, I offered them a couple different scenarios and let them choose where we fished. Jeremy chose Government Cut so we headed there and battled winds, choppy swells and a little boat traffic. They caught some Snappers a Grouper, Erica seemed like she had enough of the rough water. I asked if the wanted to go to some Trout fishing inside the bay, Erica said yes. Once inside the bay we caught a handful of 18 - 22 inch Trout and X-Raps.

I am with the Marinelli's today Jay, Frank Sr. and Frank down at Flamingo. We wanted to target Tarpon in the back country but the cold, cloud cover and winds were brutal, I decided to fish out front. We got into some Tarpon first thing but they were reluctant to bite. Frank Sr hooked some Ladyfish while we were casting at the rolling Tarpon. They did a lot of casting early on with little results, Jay caught a Redfish and then Frank Sr. caught a decent Jack. They decided to call it a day around 1130 unless we ran into something on the way back. I made a stop on a good grass flat and we caught a few Trout real quick, then Frank Sr. drag was screaming. Earlier Frank had asked if I minded if he used one of his own lures, I said sure maybe I can learn something! Frank handed me a huge Chrome Bomber topwater plug. To get back to the fish, I saw a giant splash 150 feet away I thought it was a big Snook Frank got it close to the boat. That is when I noticed it was a Monster Trout! I brought the fish into the boat and was amazed at the size. It is the biggest Trout I have had on my boat while guiding a customer and I let them know it, I was proud of Frank. They caught a bunch more but none close to that. We called it a day shortly after that.
