| Bite's on!
070209
I am with Jason and his girlfriend Sara today fishing Flamingo, the morning started off quickly when Sara hooked and landed a 25 inch Trout. This is her biggest fish ever Jason responded with a few of his own but the bite seemed to slow down once the sun came up. The mullet schools were getting blasted but we couldn't get a bite. We moved around a bit but with strong west wind it was making things difficult. I went to a spot where I had been catching Redfish out of the Mullets schools and today was no different. We set up and made real long cast, bouncing a Gulp Shrimp off the bottom. Jason had a nice hit and then Sara hooked in to a good one! Sara did everything right and after about 5 minutes landed what is now her biggest fish a 29 inch Redfish. We caught several more off of the back of some Sting Rays which were in there mudding. This bite lasted for about 45 minutes and was a blast.
070309 I am fishing with Greg Ross and his buddy Jody today at Flamingo, the conditions are a little better today and we were able to fish the Gulf for Tarpon. I had netted some Mullet so we hooked one up and put it to work, we watched as the Tarpon rolled on the bait, ate it and ripped a 100 yards of the reel. The battle was on and Jody kept the pressure on the 100 plus Tarpon but after 15 minutes or so the bait came flying out of his mouth and so did the hook. I re-rigged and put a fresh Mullet out this time it was a 200 lb. Bull Shark, Jody grabbed the rod and we are doing battle again. The reel is spooled with 15 lb Spider wire Stealth and it took and hour to get this big monster next to the boat for some pictures. We ran to the beach and targeted some smaller species that didn't take so long to catch, Greg caught a nice Snook and a couple big Trout and then Jody did the same. We head to the mullet schools and ended up the day catching a bunch of big Redfish.

I am fishing out of Haulover this morning with Bobby and his Girl fried Joy, the morning started with some big Jack action. The Tarpon were mixed in but couldn't beat the Jacks to the baits. It was an exciting couple hours with Joy hooking and catching the biggest fish of her life. These Jacks were between 5 and 15 lbs and blowing all the baits schools completely out of the water. Bobby caught his share and also caught a Mutton Snapper and some Cudas. I rigged up some Mullet and put them out for the Tarpon, one was eaten by a big Bull Shark and the other got slammed. It was possibly a Tarpon or big Jack because of the way it ripped line of the reel.

I am with Howard today and we were fishing for Tarpon in N. Biscayne Bay. The Tarpon are here but not eating today, I ran to 3 or 4 spots and had the same results. Howard who is an experienced angler called it after a couple hours.

I am fishing Flamingo today with Diane, her son Kelly his wife Rosa and daughter Taylor. The day started out slow and breezy but the action picked up. We found some decent Snook on the beaches along with Trout, Jacks and Sharks. Taylor caught the 2 big fish of the day a 15 lb Jack Crevalle and a 60 lb Shark.

I am at Flamingo fishing the FFT, there are about 35 boats fishing the tournament. We started out this morning fishing one of the coolest feeding frenzy's I have ever seen. The minnows moved in in what is called a "hatch" and the Tarpon where feasting on them. The Tarpon ranged in size from 5 lb to 100 lb. We had 3 bites and landed one 26 inch Tarpon really quick and we on our way, I suggested we forget the tournament and just fish or Tarpon. We didn't and went on for the next specie which was Snook, the bite had been off for a couple days and it showed today. We caught a bunch of Snook up to 24 inches but couldn't find the 36 inch Snook that had been around a few days prior. We caught every fish that we didn't need, the Goliath Groupers, Snappers, Ladyfish, Sharks, and Jacks were keeping us busy. We got on some good Redfish action in the after noon and hooked 3 and caught one. My partner Paul caught one and I missed a few I just couldn't get a fish in the boat today.
We only caught 2 of 4 species and allot of other teams had the same situation, no Snook! we had fun at the weigh ins and that's what its all about.
072009 I am part of a 2 boat trip today which has Eddy the owner of Biscayne Rods taking out his buddies from Japan, they were all here for ICAST which was in Orlando. I had had Jason which is the translator and pro Snook angler in Japan, Green River and Goldie. These are their nick names and it was much easier for me. I went back to area hoping the Tarpon feeding frenzy was still going off. We arrived and I didn't see the birds working but I still saw explosions on the surface. I worked my way in on the trolling motor while Green and Gold took their time just taking in the sights. Jason couldn't wait and started casting a "Twitchin Rap" he jumped several Tarpon. We continued working the shoreline moving into a small pocket where the Tarpon had the minnows trapped in a very shallow area. This is where we really hooked the most fish because we picked up the speed so the lure wouldn't snag grass. Green River finally hooked up on a 30 lb fish which tried to get him into the trees he managed to get him out only to jump off. He was really excited and couldn't wait to hook up again which came in the form of a triple hook up. The was pandemonium at it's best, we continued this until they shut down. We went and caught a bunch of Trout and hooked some Sharks, a Goliath Grouper, Ladyfish and big Jacks in shallow water. The heat has played a big part the last couple days there is no reason to be out much past 1 PM so we heded in.
If you would like to catch a variety of species big and small give me a call, this is great tme of year for kids.
