Middle of July report

Topwater Time

The summer pattern is here it's hot, thats not the describing the weather thats the fishing. The Snook fishing has been good on the flats ,the edges of the flats, potholes and the gulf beaches. The beaches have loads of Snook in the 26-34 inch range.

The Redfishing has been a little slow but that will pick up towards the end of July begining of August. We have been getting Redfish here and there but im waiting for the schools to show up. The Redfishing has been better over in Lake Ingraham

This is the time of year Tarpon show up in motes around the islands, some will be up on the flats and edge of the flats. I like to fish the mullet muds, the sting rays muds and dirty water from the muds on very low water. This technique usually gives up some quality fish.Watch the mud direction and fish the front edge where the mud kicking up fresh, there should be some serious pops on that edge.

Sharks they are here, I MEAN BIG BULL SHARKS. These Sharks are tough and fun on light tackle, they will test your skill and wear you out. The kids love em.

Sawfish are abundant right now this past week we caught and released 4, they make a great photo opportunity. There aren't to many people out there catching them.

On the Tournament side Redfish Tour Open Division, i just returned from 2 days fishing the northern end of Everglades National Park out of Everglades City. I fished with my buddies Capts. Bruce Carton and Timmy Sharabeck, we had a couple very productive days fishing only artificial lures. On Friday all 3 of us had slams thats how good a day we had. On Saturday Tournament day we had 2 Reds in the boat by 830am and the bite really slowed after that. The fish were only eating on the higher stages of the tide. We managed to put one upgraded fish in the boat. We did lose a couple that would of helped or cause greatly but Capt. Bruce put on a fishing clinic Saturday. Our team finished in 11 place with the 10 largest Redfish weighed in. Normally the tournaments are serious and filled with pressure this one was just fun.

This is a great time for large Snook and Tarpon on topwater if you have never experienced it give me a call ill make it happen

Let's go Catchin,
Capt. Jimbo
