| Seasons are changing
Today, I walked outside and noticed the there was definitely a change in our weather pattern. The cooler air temp and the lack of humidity is nice, this leads us into what’s happening on the water right now.
Flamingo-10-17-03The finger Mullet are everywhere they are pouring down the both coast. This is a good time for anglers because the predators aren’t far behind them. Last week we had all kinds of action in the baits right of the shores of Middle Cape beach, this lies on the southwest tip of Florida in Everglades National Park. We were Tarpon fishing but the Sharks were so thick we could not get a bait to the them without a Shark eating it first. Rick and Debbie from Minnesota didn’t not care they loved hearing the drag scream and catching the Sharks. On this day we found all the species in the bait schools trout Ladyfish, Snook, Sharks, Trout and Tarpon. Rick did have a nice Snook and a few Tarpon on Top-water early on in the Day.
Biscayne Bay- The Permit and Bone fishing has been very good as well. i have found decent size schools in the south end of the Biscayne Bay. The finger mullet are also pushing thru the south bay 10-18-03 I fished with Alvin and his son Ryan on the west shore watching the Snook destroy the bait schools. There were some nice Baracudas blasting them also.
REDFISH TOUR- The last month, I really have been on the road a lot Jacksonville and Venice, Louisinana competing on the Redfish tour. It’s a tough life but I am very glad to be able to do it. Venice was just like some of those shows on T.V. , 4 hours 75 Redfish. The week of pre-fishing was incredible, 50 –100 Redfish a day up to 25lbs. beautiful weather what else can you ask for. Just ask any tournament angler I’m sure he will tell you he would rather practice in nasty conditions only because that’s what we normally fish in on tournament day. Day one in Venice was typical, Tropical wave conditions we could not even get to our number one spot the first day it was so bad. Windy and rainy but that didn’t slow any of the competitors. Day 1 was slow we only caught 12 fish, this was heard a lot at the weigh ins, but as in every tournament somebody always catches fish. This tournament had some exceptional catches the first day.
Day 2, was supposed to be clear and no rain; well it wasn’t early but really co-operated later in the day. We caught 40 fish this day losing 2 that would of definitely helped us move up a little in the end. It is really hard to complain about finishing 77th when we caught as many quality fish as we did. We did really well for our first time there, next time we will do much better. My partner was Capt. Timmy Scharabeck ,this was our first year together traveling on the Pro tour next year we will “get em”. We couldn’t do it with out the help from our sponsors and our families.
I would like to thank our sponsors for the help this year. McDonalds Biscayne Rods Okuma reels Lowarance
The backcountry is alive and kickin for all species right now and Biscayne bay is red hot. Call and book a trip of your lifetime. 305-333-8149 “Let’s go catchin” Capt Jimbo Select another page || Go to Home Page
