| April Fishing report

| 1 more cold front
April is almost over; we are still getting cool fronts and the wind has been blowing very harsh, these conditions hurt the backcountry Tarpon fishing. The full moon in March usually is when it peaks; but during this season the Tarpon bypassed the backcountry. This is not a big problem we just had to adjust. They were staging in Ponce Deleon Bay, free jumpers, cruisers and rolling Tarpon were everywhere all we have to do is get your lure in front of one. The Tarpon bite as of this writing has been very good. Live Mullet and the incoming tides are the keys to finding active Tarpon and Snook. When a pod of mullet comes thru watch out: the Tarpon/Snook start busting them. I have watch hundreds of Tarpon and Snook this month destroying the mullet schools. These schools are coming down both coast of Florida. My customers have had some great catches this past month, but the Tarpon of the month was a 150-pound monster off of South Beach by Jeremy and Brian. They watched as there buddies on another boat hooked up and had no idea what they would be in for if they hooked a Tarpon, shortly after they did. The Pair took turns battling the very large Tarpon and about an hour later we brought it boat side for pictures.
Okay, now for a Snook story. While fishing with Ed and Amy Whitlock of Georgia and the Son Reagan we had a double header of Snook. No big deal right! The pair of Snook were both over 20 pounds and 40 inches long. Unfortunately Reagan lost his but Ed got his up next to the boat. I did not realize it at the time but Amy was video taping the whole thing. This was very cool! Hopefully I can get that on the website soon. They had already caught 100 Trout, Jacks and Ladyfish and Pompano. On this day the Pompano were small but we had 10 bites
The Pompano and Bluefish have been showing up in some of the channels like Palm Key and Conchie Channel.
The weather seems to be making the Snook happy enough to be moving out of the backcountry and out on to the points on the beaches again chasing mullet schools.
The FLW and Redfish Cup Tournament season is under way myself and my partner Tim Shabareck are hoping to make some noise this year, we are fishing for Team Yamaha/Maverick and Sponsored by Flanagan's seafood bar and grill and G.E Silicones. We appreciate the help from our sponsors otherwise we could not do it.
Next months temperatures should be comfortable, the Tarpon are on the beaches of Miami and the Snook are in the Inlets, if your are looking for an enjoyable afternoon/evening of catching large fish. The crabs will be pushing thru Government Cut which will turn the Tarpon and Permit on. The Snook, Redfish and Tarpon should be productive thru the summer, down at Flamingo Come fish on my new 22ft Pathfinder. If catching a dream fish is in your future plans call me at 305 333 8149 and let me arrange a trip of a lifetime for you.
