| Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Special update.
Tarpon fishing has been great and getting better day by day! The Tarpon have arrived earlier than usuall and I am taking advantage.
122705 1 for 1 but other boats did better, Scott got his 1st Tarpon a 50 pounder.
122805 the bite was really good Wayne was breaking in his new Christmas rod, got hit 4 times in a row. Several hookups coming as we cast to Tarpon hitting shrimp on the surface, the D.O.A glow shrimp worked great. we ended up 3 for 8
122905 fished with Lloyd,Jeff and there wives it was frustrating the Tarpon ate for my buddy drifting next to us but not for us.
010206 No shrimp to be found anywhere in town used the next best thing to live shrimp DOA Glow shrimp. We only got one bite but landed the 45-50 pound Tarpon. Check out the tarpon page it the one with the lightning in the back ground. it realy the boat rocking up and down with the hotel lights in the backround.
121805 Everglades National Park reopens Whitewater Bay to anglers.
As of 121005 the Tarpon have moved in along the beaches, this is great for the people who are vacationing on South Beach.
It is that time of year already; with all the recovery work from the hurricanes most people are ready for a change. The hurricane stress seems to be winding down, as people are getting back to normal. Once you get back to the daily grind its time to think about the luxuries, Fishing is a luxury and as a fishing guide I realize that. That's where I come in, lets go fishing, bring the wife and kids! I will make it the trip of a lifetime. Flamingo- Everglades National Park s still closed for drive in traffic, but the alternative is to run from Key Largo. The fishing in between Key Largo and Flamingo has been good with the fishing closer to Flamingo being outstanding. One of the keys right now is to be able to run a little further than the other guys, to areas that have not been fished recently. We have had some cool weather but not enough to chase the fish from the flats and the edge of the flats. I like this pattern because the fish will school up, be larger and a slams are very possible. Miami Beach area- There are plenty of opportunities, either close to shore along Miami Beach, around the inlets and jetties or in the intercoastal waterway. We can target Tarpon, Snook, Trout, Cudas, Mackerels and Jacks. This coastal fishing depends on how windy it gets but normally there's somewhere to duck into. It won't be long before the Tarpon migrate into the Inlets and along the beaches. South Biscayne Bay- The Bone fishing is good all year round in South Biscayne Bay, along with Permit, Sharks, Snappers, Jacks and Cudas. There is always an opportunity weather its in 1 foot of water or on the slightly deeper edges. Once we get a couple of cold days, the shallow water inshore reefs turn on, big Muttons and Grouper come in shallow. I like to troll a big deep diving plug in about 25 to 40ft of water, heavy tackle is necessary. The reason for the heavy tackle is so the fish don?t get into the rocks, tighten up the drag and hold on. Tournament scene The Pro-Redfish tournaments are done for the year. This year was a big year because the FLW and the Redfish Cup competed for all the teams. Fishing both Redfish Series was physically tough; the eye of both Hurricanes Katrina and Wilma hit my neighborhood while I was in Louisiana and Alabama. It's hard enough being away with out these problems; but to trying to figure out the Redfish pattern while worrying about your family, it was very tough. I would like to thank all my sponsors for their help making my dream of being a pro angler a reality. Making the FLW championship was an accomplishment. There were over 300 teams from Florida to Texas trying to make it and we were fortunate enough to finish 66th overall. On day 1 we lost 4 hours of fishing time due to a spun prop and managed to salvage the day with a 4lb Redfish. Again Thanks to all my sponsors, Flanigan's, Maverick,Yamaha, Lowrance, Pure Fishing, G.E Silicones, Biscayne Rods, Okuma Reels.
